For the month of April, I will be blogging every day (minus every Sunday but the 1st) about Interstitial Cystitis for The A to Z Blogging Challenge. Each day I will talk about a subject dealing with IC and my life living with it.
Today is C and I'm talking about dealing with Chronic Pain.
Dealing with chronic pain is a pain. There's really no better way to put it. Ic, like most other chronic illnesses, has it's own specific variety of pain. When I'm having a flare, I have no doubt. The pain and the location is all unique. The annoying thing about IC can be trying to figure out what triggered it.
For the most part, the pain of IC is food related. Anything acidic, anything citrusy, anything with vinegar, anything spicy are all culprits. Then there are times seemingly 'safe' foods will trigger pain and discomfort. I've heard some IC sufferers say they have to watch what body wash and shampoo they use. Stress doesn't help either. The list is long, and the frustrating thing is it's different for each person. What triggers me may not trigger someone else. And I haven't even gotten in to how tiring it can be. I'm sure everyone has heard stories of people with chronic illnesses that have days where they can't get out of bed.
Like I said, chronic pain is a pain.
